October Teen Service Club Project
Youth ages 11-17 will use their artistic skills to create a Thanksgiving placemat that will go to a senior citizen when they receive their Thanksgiving dinner from Meals on Wheels. You can color, collage, weave, decoupage, paint or anything else to make this holiday a little more special for the person who will receive your placemat.
Please take your time on this project to make it extra special. Each kit includes materials to make 2 placemats with some decorative items to get you started. You will receive 30 minutes of service time for each placemat. Turn in completed placemats by October 31, 2020.
Special Instructions for 2020: Kits will be distributed via the Henderson Libraries curbside pickup — 1 kit per teen. Completed projects should be returned via curbside pickup, with completed placemats in the bag with a return slip filled out and attached (the slips are included in the kits). Another kit may be taken upon return of the previous kit. All completed projects will be held until October 31, and service time will be calculated based upon the return slips for each participant. A letter detailing the service hours will be sent via email to the participant after October 31.
Henderson Libraries partners with the City of Henderson Park District Meals on Wheels program to coordinate delivery of the placemats to seniors.
