Banned Books Week 2021

Banned Books Week 2021 September 26 - October 2 Join us in supporting the annual celebration of the freedom and right to read ! Banned Books Week (held the last week of September)  spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. As stated on the   American Library Association's ( ALA)  website, Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular. Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship by focusing on  efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books As stated in Article III of the  Library Bill of Rights ,   “Libraries should challenge censorship in the fulfillment of their responsibility to provide information and enlightenment.”  To learn more about the annual celebration of the freedom
